A manager with Starcoms Communications Plc., Sofumade Kuti, was on Tuesday arraigned for fraudulently obtaining N2.4 million from a customer under pretence.
Kuti, who was docked at an Igbosere Magistrates Court, is facing a two-count charge of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Nicholas Anieke, alleged the accused in September 2009 unlawfully obtained N2.4 million from one Ilesanmi Olade, under the pretence of helping him buy the company’s internet equipment.
He said the accused also issued an Access Bank’s cheque for N2.4 to the complainant which was dishonoured for lack of sufficient funds when it was presented for payment.
Anieke said the offence contravened Sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.
Kuti pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, O.A. Layinka, adjourned the case till Jan. 27 for further hearing.
