The anti-smuggling squad of the North-West Zone of Nigeria Customs Service has seized assorted goods worth N132 million within two months.
Customs Service Deputy Public Relations Officer, Joseph Attah, quoted Hassan Shallangwa, an Assistant Comptroller and the Zonal Coordinator of the squad, as making this known in Abuja on Wednesday.
Shallangwa said that the squad, code-named ``Operation Cinnaka’’ made the seizures, which included 53 used vehicles, three trucks, 52 bales of used clothing, 632 jerry cans (25 litres each) of vegetable oil and 300 cartons of foreign soaps.
He urged traders to deal on goods that were not on the prohibition list to avoid colossal losses and the risk of a jail term.
Shallangwa said that the activities of Operation Cinnaka’’ had brought about an increase in the number of car importers following the approved routes and paying the prescribed customs duty.
