A four-year-old marriage was dissolved on Wednesday in Lagos, after the wife poured hot water on her husband.

The Mushin Grade A Customary Court in its ruling, described the marriage between Anthony Okoli and the estranged wife, Ijeoma as a failed union.

The President of the court, Dr Abayomi Ipaye, said that since all efforts to reconcile the couple had failed, the court had no option than to dissolve the marriage.

Okoli had on Oct. 18 filed a petition for the dissolution of the marriage, alleging that his wife had been threatening his life.

Okoli, 45, told the court that Ijeoma, 40, had been threatening to kill him, adding that the hot water poured on him was an evidence of her brutality.

Ijeoma, a seamstress, however, consented to the dissolution of the marriage, saying: ``I do not love him any longer.
