An architect, who allegedly received stolen goods from a salesman, was on Thursday arraigned.
The architect, Pontiff Godsent, 34, and Ebuka Chukwu, 20, a salesman, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and receiving stolen items before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The prosecutor, Insp. Phillip Ugbodu, told the court that Chukwu, was a salesman at Ramson Investment Nig. Ltd., a pharmaceutical company owned by Remi Ozuba.
According to Ugbodu, Chukwu stole N470,000 and various patent medicines valued at N592,000, property of his employer.
He said Godsent received the stolen money and medicines from Chukwu knowing that the items were stolen.
He said the incident took place between June 6 and Nov. 30, 2010, at the company’s premises in Ijaye Ojokoro, Lagos.
Ugbodu said the offence contravened Sections 390(9), 427 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State and punishable with seven years imprisonment.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were each granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, Kemi Doja-Ojo, fixed further hearing in the case for Dec. 23.
