Raphael Abardeen, a 30-year-old unemployed, was on Tuesday taken before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a Corolla saloon car, valued at N3.5 million.
Abardeen, who is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, was arraigned before Magistrate O. A. Ogunbowale.
The Prosecutor, ASP N. Sule, told the court that Abardeen and others at large broke into 6 Modupe Ayoade Str., Iyana Ipaja, Lagos, late at night and stole the vehicles.
Sule said that the car with registration number SS 941 AAA belonged to one Mrs Maryann Ugo.
He said that the offences were punishable under Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
According to him, the alleged offences were committed on Oct. 10.
In her ruling, Ogunbowale granted the accused bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Jan. 10, 2011 for further hearing.
