Lagos State Police Commissioner, Marvel Akpoyibo has advised religious organisations to beef up security at their worship centres during the New Year festivities.
Akpoyibo gave the advice in Ikeja at an interactive session with religious leaders in the state.
He, however, said the state was not under any threat of any violence or attack.
Akpoyibo warned them against parking vehicles close to their worship centres for security reasons.
The police boss implored the religious leaders to collaborate with the police in ensuring security and effective traffic control.
Religious leaders should prevail on their followers to eschew all forms of violence as the command will not condone any form of lawlessness.
He called on parents and guardians to restrain their wards from indiscriminate use of fireworks during the New Year celebrations, noting that criminals use fireworks to commit crimes.
