In less than 24-hours, 10 persons lost their lives in two separate road accidents in Lagos State.
Frank Mba, Lagos State Police Spokesman confirmed that five persons died in an accident along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway late Wednesday, while five died this morning along the Lagos/Badagry expressway.
Mba said at about 5.45a.m on Thursday, a petrol tanker with Reg No XZ777-JJJ heading towards Badagry was involved in a fatal accident near Fin-Niger bus-stop.
The tanker ran into a ditch, it contents spilled on the road and eventually it went up in flames.
The tanker and seven other vehicles were burnt while five persons were burnt beyond recognition.
Eight other victims suffer burns of various degrees and were rushed to the different hospitals,” Mba added.
Mba said three fire fighters trucks responded to the incident and assisted in putting out the fire.
The police spokesman also said Policemen from Festac and Satelite divisions were at the scene to provide security, clear traffic and render humanitarian services.
He said investigations into the incidents have commenced.
Mba advised road users to exercise restraints and obey all traffic rules and regulations while on the highway.
