An Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on Thursday admitted to bail in the sum of N450,000, Emmanuel Uchechukwu, charged with stealing a generator and household items worth N350,000.
Uchechukwu, 18, who is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Olakunle Shonibare, told the court that the accused and another still at large committed the offence on Nov. 27, at Naija Fast Food, Ikotun, Lagos.
Shonibare explained that the accused stole a big generator, valued at N180,000, two standing fans worth N20,000, two gas cookers and two cylinders, valued at N150,000.
He said the items belonged to one Pastor Osagie.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
Sherry Omobaba, counsel to the accused, urged the court to grant him bail noting that ``the accused is presumed innocent until proven otherwise”.
Magistrate, Maimunat Folami, granted bail to Uchechukwu, with two sureties in like sum, and adjourned the case till Dec. 22, for trial.
