A teenager and five others have appeared before an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court over the alleged theft of two Honda Accord cars, cash and other valuables.
Aliyu Muazu (19), Ganiyu Bello (28), Wasiu Ganiyu (24), Daniel Udoh (20) Emmanuel Aiyeoyenike (39) and Moses Ayo (23) are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp. Augustine Orji, told the court that the accused, using dangerous weapons, dispossessed Messrs Wale Ogunmade and Iroezi Nwokocha of two Honda Accord cars, both valued at N2.4 million.
Orji said the accused also stole eight handsets valued at N85,000, one Dell laptop, a digital camera, N457, 000 and 2,000 euros.
The prosecutor put the total value of items and cash stolen from the victims at N2.94 million.
He told the court that the offences were punishable under Sections 516 of the Criminal code Laws of Lagos State and 1 (2) (a) and 1 (2) (a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.
He said the alleged crimes were committed on Sept. 4 at Alfoscar Hotel in Igando, Lagos.
The magistrate, C.J. Momodu, did not take the plea of the accused.
She adjourned the case till Jan. 12, 2011 and ordered that they be remanded in prison custody pending when the court would get a legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
