The new Assistant Inspector-General of police in charge of Zone II, Suleiman Fakai says his major assignment in the zone is to maintain peace during the forth-coming general elections.
Fakai said on Monday, while resuming office at the Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, that the two states, Lagos and Ogun under his command, would have peaceful elections.
He has made it categorically clear that police and other relevant security agencies should work together to ensure that peace during the elections is maintained.
The Police Boss warned criminals in the zone to leave the area, stressing that the officers and men under his command would fight crime to the best of their abilities.
Fakai called on police men and women to brace up to the challenges of crime fighting, threatening to punish any one found indulging in unprofessional conduct.
Fakai was enlisted into the Force on Jan. 1, 1984 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police and began his career in Lagos command, where he served in various departments.
He also served in many states in different capacities, including Commissioner of Police in charge of Enugu state before he was promoted as AIG to oversee Zone IV Benin in 2009.
Fakai was until his new assignment, Force Secretary, Abuja.
