One person and 23 vehicles were burnt on Tuesday when a diesel-laden tanker overturned at Muwo, a suburb of Badagry, and burst into flames.
Divisional Police Officer in Badagry, CSP Salihu Samuel said the man burnt to death was waiting to board a vehicle.
He said the 23 vehicles burnt in the inferno included the tanker.
Francise Ogundijo, an eye witness said the accident happened at about 3 p.m. when the tanker with registration XB 142 UMX, carrying diesel, otherwise known as automotive gas oil, lost control.
The inferno resulted in a heavy traffic jam on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
It took men of the Fire Service from Badagry many hours to douse the fire while policemen and officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps helped to control the traffic.
A similar accident occurred at Aradagun near Badagry in April killing one person and burning several vehicles.
