The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday staged an enlightenment campaign tagged: `Operation Show of Force’’ as part of security preparations for the ``ember months’’.
The show involved the movement of a convoy of the Rapid Response Squad patrol vehicles and Armored Personnel Carriers along some major streets.
Frank Mba, the command’s spokesman said the show was to sensitise people in the state of the police’s readiness for the ember months.
It is also to send warning signals to criminally-minded persons in the state to change for good or relocate,’’ he said.
Mba said the show was being carried out simultaneously in eight Area Commands of the state with each Area Commander leading the show in their respective areas.
The RRS Commander, CSP Kayode Odumosu, also said the exercise was to show that there will be safety for people in Lagos and that there is no room for criminals.
The months September to December are usually regarded as months with high rate of crimes and accidents because of large vehicular and human movements.
