Six persons were on Thursday charged before an Ebute-Meta Magistrate's Court in Lagos for alleged robbery and murder of a security guard, Muhammed Yusuf.
The accused are Amechi Peters, 26; Hamisu Adamu, 31; Ignatius Nnamani, 35; Chinedu James, 29; Emeka Obi, 29; and Yahaya Lampa, 28.
They are standing trial on a four-count charge of conspiracy, robbery and murder, as well as receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, Insp. Philip Ugbobu told the court that the accused on Aug. 28, armed with dangerous weapons, allegedly robbed Ice Investment Company of 600 cartons of Titus sardine valued at N4.8 millon.
Ugbobu said the offence was committed at No. 136, Happy Home St., Kirikiri in Lagos.
The prosecutor explained that while robbing the company, the accused allegedly murdered Yusuf, a security guard who challenged them.
He explained that after robbing the company the gang allegedly delivered 100 pieces of Titus sardine, valued at N10,000, to Lampa at Honey Home Avenue, Kirikiri, Lagos.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 1(2) (a), 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap 398, Laws of the Federation, 2004 and Sections 319 (1) and 427 of the Criminal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The Magistrate, M.O. Olajuwon remanded the accused in custody pending the advice from the office of the state Director of Public Prosecution.
Olajuwon adjourned the case till Oct. 10, for further hearing.
