A lady, Funke Mohammed,28, and three men were on Wednesday charged before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a two-count offence of armed robbery and conspiracy.
The four were suspected to be behind violent car thefts in the Lagos area.
The other accused were Theophilus Onabe, 34; Tayo Olaniyan, 39;and Christopher Otomewom, 28.
They allegedly snatched three vehicles valued at N23.5million at gun point in some parts of the state.
The prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong said the accused stole a Prado Jeep with registration no. JM 742 EKY, a Toyota Carina with registration no.DK306 EKY and a Honda Accord marked CQ 104 AAA.
He said the vehicles belonged to Chike Egbo, Atu Osanwonyi and Magnum Trust Bank.
Effiong told the court that the first, second and third accused conspired and snatched the vehicles, while the fourth accused received the stolen cars.
The offences, he said, were committed between Jan. 15, 2009 and Sept. 11, 2010.
Effiong said some dangerous weapons such as guns, cutlasses and knives were recovered from the accused.
They, however, pleaded not guilty, but the court granted Otomewom-- the alleged receiver of robbed cars-- bail in sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate, O. A. Ogala ordered Onabe, Olaniyan and Mohammed to be remanded in prison custody pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
She adjourned the case till Oct. 21 for further hearing.
