The police on Friday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Henry Riki, for allegedly vandalising a Toyota Hiace bus and a Nissan Murano jeep.
Riki, is standing trial before an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos on a three-count charge of stealing, malicious damage and unlawful entry.
The prosecutor, Cpl. John Iberedem, told the court that Riki removed one side mirror of the Murano jeep and the brain box of the bus, all valued at N120, 000, property of Mr Eric Olori.
He said the offence was committed on Sept. 4, at about 1a.m. at Spring Field Hotel, 75 Old Ojo Road, Kuje Amuwo in Lagos.
The prosecutor also told the court that Riki on the same date, time and place, broke into the office of Olori inside the Hotel and stole the sum of N5, 800.
Iberedem said the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 411 and 412 of the Criminal Code Cap C17, Vol. II Laws of Lagos State 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count-charge.
The Chief Magistrate, O. O. Oshin granted the accused bail in the sum of N30,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oshin added that the sureties must be blood relations of the accused and should show evidence of tax payment.
She subsequently adjourned the case till Sept.29 for further hearing.
