The police in Lagos has arraigned two transporters at the Otto Motor Park, Ebute Meta over alleged kidnapping of a minor.
The accused -- Ndueze Orji, 45, and Ndubuisi Izuadu , 2 -- were charged with conspiracy, kidnapping and stealing before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge, and were each granted bail in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Ishiaku Babaji, said the accused unlawfully took away the underage girl from her mistress.
He also said Orji stole N8,000 from the girl’s mother.
Babaji said the alleged incident occurred on Sept. 16 at Otto, Ebute Meta.
He noted that the alleged offence contravened Sections 516, 390 and 364 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, and punishable with 10 years’ imprisonment.
The court adjourned the case till Oct. 29 for further hearing.
