Lagos: Industrial Court closes case on resident doctors' strike.

The |National Industrial Court today in Lagos struck out the matter between the Lagos State government and the Lagos chapter of the Association of Resident Doctors on the ongoing strike by the doctors.

The notice of discontinuance of the case was moved by the counsel to the Lagos state government, Olaniran Obele.

The counsel to the resident doctors, Chukwuyem Atewe, did not oppose the application for discontinuance.

In his ruling, the president of the court, Justice Babatunde Adejumo, said the matter was struck out since both parties did not oppose the application.

Justice Adejumo berated both parties for not reaching an out-of-court settlement as ordered by the court.

Adejumo had on the last adjourned date, advised the parties to explore the possibility of an amicable settlement of the matter.

But Obele, told the court that no settlement had been filed because negotiations were unsuccessful.

Adejumo, however, adjourned to Sept. 27 for hearing of the motion for discontinuance between the Medical Guild and the Lagos state government.
