Pregnant woman in court for allegedly murdering 14-year-old boy

The police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a 24-year-old pregnant woman, Chiamaka Nnajiofor, at an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly killing a 14-year-old boy.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Iskaku Babaji, told the court that the accused killed Oliver Orakwe and tortured two other boys living with her.

Babaji said the deceased and the other boys were chained and locked up in a toilet for four days.

He said the accused also tortured the children by beating them with hammer, shoe and belt, leading to the death of Orakwe and the hospitalisation of the other two.

The prosecutor said the incident occurred on Aug. 18 at No. 81, Femi Kila St., Ago-Palace Way, Lagos.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 391 (1) of the Criminal Code of Lagos State and is punishable with death.

The court did not take her plea and ordered that she be remanded in prison custody pending the advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

The case was adjourned till Oct. 12 for further hearing.
