The police in Lagos on Thursday launched an investigation into the alleged murder of a 55-year-old man by his own son.
The state command’s spokesman,Frank Mba said the suspect, who had been arrested, had made useful statements to the police.
The suspect allegedly committed the offence on Sept. 11 at 29, Otenaike St., Ejigbo, a Lagos suburb.
Mba said the suspect had an argument with his father, Ayo Omoperemi, and in the process, stabbed him on the abdomen.
The man was rushed to a private hospital where he was later confirmed dead by the doctor as a result of excessive bleeding, he said.
The police spokesman said homicide detectives had visited the scene for preliminary investigations.
Mba, who said the corpse had been deposited at mortuary for autopsy, promised that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
