Folayan is standing trial before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of conspiracy and failure to produce a suspect.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Nicholas Anieke, said the accused committed the alleged offence on June 1 at the Special Fraud Unit Force Criminal Investigation Department, Ikoyi.

Anieke said the accused took a crime suspect, one Sunday Folayan, on a N5 million police bail bond, but failed to produce him when needed.

The prosecutor explained that Sunday Folayan was being investigated over alleged N1.3 million fraud.

The accused promised to produce Sunday at SFU from time to time as may be required until the case is disposed off, but failed to produce him despite repeated demands, he said.

Anieke said the accused conspired with the suspect to prevent to pervert justice.

Anieke said the alleged offence contravened Sections 516 and 132 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate F.A Layinka in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
