A 30-year-old man, Ojo Adebero, accused of stealing PHCN electric cables valued at N772,800, on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos.
The accused, who pleaded not guilty, is standing trial on a five-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Innocent Effiong, told the court that the accused, with others at large, on two separate occasions stole the cables at Isaac John Street, GRA and Onigbongbo, Ikeja.
Effiong said the offence were committed sometime in January and April.
He said the offence was contrary to Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The Chief Magistrate, Philip Ojo, however, granted Adebero bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
Ojo adjourned the case till Oct. 13 for further hearing.
