The Police in Lagos on Wednesday arraigned a 28-year-old man, Ekene Ekwuonye, for allegedly stealing two big generating sets valued at N400,000.
Ekwuonye is standing trial before an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of stealing and obtaining goods under false pretence.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. John Iberedem, said that the accused collected the generators from Messrs Emmanuel Solomon and Chinasa Nwaogugu with a promise to pay for them but refused to do so.
Iberedem said the alleged crimes were committed on July 18 at 21 Road, ‘S’ Close, Festac Town.
He said the alleged offences contravened Sections 390 and 419 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate O.O. Oshin in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Oshin adjourned hearing in the case till Sept. 27.
