The Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Inumidun Akande , has described the late Bankole Tanimose Oki as a legal colossus, a great orator and a community leader of high repute.
Speaking at a valedictory service in honour of the state’s first attorney general and oldest SAN in Nigeria in Lagos, Akande described Oki as the grandfather of all the Attorneys General in Lagos State.
She urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late Oki lived a fulfilled life.
Also speaking at the valedictory service, the state attorney general, Supo Shashore , said the late Oki believed and respected the value of the legal profession.
The late Oki was appointed the first Attorney General of Lagos State in 1970.
Born on Nov. 15, 1919, Oki was admitted to the inner bar in 1978 and was a life member of the Body of Benchers. He died recently at the age of 91.
The valedictory service was attended by Lagos Gov. Babatunde Fashola, former Minister of Justice, Bola Ajibola and the first governor of Lagos state, Retired Brig. Mobolaji Johnson, among others.
Also present were, Tunji Gomez, Wole Olanipekun, Funke Adekoya, Rasaq Okoya, and a Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, George Oguntade.
