Four brothers were on Monday docked at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly threatening the life of a businesswoman over a piece of land.
The accused, Wasiu Lawal, 53, Shakiru Lawal, 45, Musibau Lawal, 57, and Nurudeen Lawal, 47, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful damage and threat to life.
The prosecutor, ASP Innocent Effiong, told the court that the accused, along with others now at large, threatened to kill the businesswoman, one Ronke Olasukanmi.
Effiong said the accused threatened to kill the complainant if she ventured to enter into the land situated at Ayobo-Ipaja, Lagos.
He said the four accused claimed the piece of land belonged to their Lawal family and was not sold to the complainant.
The prosecutor added that the accused, along with some thugs, damaged the fence erected on the property.
Effiong put the cost of the fence on N100,000.
He said the incident occurred on June 8 at No. 23, Funke St., Ipaja.
Effiong said the offence contravened Sections 86, 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State and punishable with seven years imprisonment.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate,Philip Ojo, granted each of them bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Oct. 8, for further hearing.
