Early morning accident in Lagos claims three lives

Three persons lost their lives in Lagos on Thursday when their cars ran into a stationary truck on the Third Mainland Bridge.

The accident occurred at about 2 A.M. when two cars ran into the articulated vehicle resulting in the death of the occupants of the smaller vehicles.

The articulated vehicle which belonged to group of companies, had broken down late on Wednesday on the bridge.

The bodies of the three victims had been removed by their family members for burial as they were said to be Muslims.

The articulated vehicle had been towed by LASTMA officials to the police vehicle yard in Ijora, while the two cars had been towed to LASTMA compound in Obalende.

An official of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, Afolabi Ogunsowo, who was seen controlling traffic in the area, told NAN that traffic officials moved to the scene early Thursday to divert vehicular movement.

The accident caused a serious early morning traffic jam on Adekunle end of the Third Mainland Bridge.
