A 42-year-old man, Segun Ogunbabo, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos for allegedly forging statements of accounts of three banks.
Ogunbabo was charged with conspiracy and forgery before Magistrate M.O. Olajuwon, but he pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Ezekiel Ayorinde, submitted that the accused forged statements of Bank PHB account no. 1011335795, Oceanic Bank account no. 0541101005602 and Guarantee Trust Bank account no. 20214323599110.
Ayorinde said the accused conspired with others still at large to forge the documents on Aug. 14, 2009 with intention to use them to obtain a loan fraudulently.
He said the accused committed the alleged offence at a branch of Stanbic IBTC Bank at No. 1712 Idejo St., Victoria Island.
The court granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Further hearing in the case will come up on Nov. 11.
