Two brothers in court over palm oil theft

Two brothers --Jamiyu Sodiq 22 and Adisa Sodiq 20 on Tuesday appeared before an Apapa Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lagos over theft of some kegs of palm oil.

The brothers were charged with stealing 31 jerry cans containing 25 litres of palm oil each.

They, however, pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Amos Adeyemi, who granted them bail in the sum of N70,000 with one surety each.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Inedu, had submitted that the accused conspired and burgled a shop belonging to one Kayode Shitu and stole the palm oil worth N88,600.

Inedu said the alleged incident occurred on the night of Aug. 13 at Bakare St., Amukoko.

The prosecutor said the alleged offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 413 (2) and 516 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State.

The case has been adjourned till Sept. 13 for further hearing.
